BTW, Media Player on Windows Me has this feature as well, doesn't require DirectX 8.

The Media Player 8 you get with Windows XP, records which DVDs and CDs you have been playing, and sends them to Microsoft.
To view the video segment you will need either Real Player 8 or Windows Media Player 9.

Please note that all current versions of Windows Media Player will play Windows Media 8 video files.
Mac Users : There is a stand alone version of Windows Media Player built for Mac 8.
NOTE: For those who are using Windows XP which came with the original windows media player version 8.
