We have a Carrier Model 38BR048300 Air Conditioner unit. It's about 12yrs old What would cause the compressor to occasionally squeal, screech, etc, when the unit is NOT running (and should not)? The thermostat is on "cool." To stop the noise, we move the thermostat to "off" and the noise showly subsides and stops.

MY CARRIER AC IS NOT GETTING AUTOMATIC AND EVEN IF IT IS IN HIGH COOL IT DOES NOT COOL UP BUT GIVES ONLY COOL AIR LIKE IN A FAN IT'S WHY IS NOT COOLING THE WHOLE ROOM.SEEMS LIKE IT IS NOT ABSORBING THE HEAT IN THE ROOM.FURTHER THE LIGHT INDICATOR JUST CONTINUE LIGHTING UP.WHEN YOU ADJUST THE THERMOSTAT IT DOES NOT COOL UP AND YOU CANNOT HEAR AN ADJUSTMENT IN THE TEMP BUT FROM FAN IT GIVES THE AUTOMATIC SOUND .TO SUM IT UP THE ROOM IS NOT COOLING AT ALL.IT STARTED WHEN THERE WAS A SUDDEN POWER OUTAGE AND BY MISTAKE ALSO I PUT THE TEMP ON MEDIUM COOL BUT HAVE THE THERMOSTAT IN # 5.I HAD IT CLEANED UP THE WHOLE UNIT BUT THE SAME.ANY IDEA? |

Trying to find out size and efficiency of my current Carrier AC unit. It is model # 38tg030300. Looking at replacing and I am trying to calculate the savings of putting in more efficient models.
Thanks... |

I have a Carrier 38CKC060370 AC Unit. It is 7 years old. The fan on top runs, new filter by furnace and main fan is blowing air. The tube carrying compressed gas in not cold (going to the exchanger in the furnace). How can I tell if the compressor is running? Would the compressor already be bad? Is there a relay that controls it? Thanks for your help. |
