Answering machines are available as standalone devices, but they are also available as part of other devices such as standard telephones, cordless phones and fax machines.
It is also possible to attach other devices such as fax machines, cordless phones and answering machine to a telephone system in the same way that they can be connected to a standard telephone line.
It is worth pointing out that it is some items of equipment such as simple telephones, answering machines and analogue cordless phones are not worth repairing since the cost of the repair is often more than an equivalent replacement.
