The Bay of Bengal, the Indian Ocean and the Arabian Sea all meet here and it also happens to be the southernmost point of mainland India; the next landfall to the south is all penguins and frozen meteorologists.
The south is surrounded by the Bay of Bengal, the Indian Ocean and the Arabian Sea on all three sides, and the mighty Himalayan range binds the north.
The Andaman and Nicobar Islands in the Bay of Bengal and Lakshadweep in the Arabian Sea are parts of the Indian Territory.

The particle flux patterns in the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal are strongly influenced by the monsoons, the major climatic feature of southern Asia.
The area of responsibility of the Institute extending from Bay of Bengal in the east to Arabian Sea in the west is well endowed with extensive natural tropical forests which are rich in floristic wealth.
The test platform is situated within a protected harbor in Tuticorin Bay and exposed to a wide range of fouling organisms normally found in the Indian Ocean, the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal.
