ATLANTA - Spelman College was one of 39 four-year, liberal arts colleges in the nation awarded a $2 million grant from Lilly Endowment Inc.
Starner is a professor in the College of Computing at Georgia Tech in Atlanta and is currently a visiting professor at the Electrical Engineering department at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich.
On the last weekend of April, at Morehouse College in Atlanta, the Packard Scholarship Committee met to select the scholarship recipients for Fall 2001, the third of four semesters covered by the grant.

The beginnings of the idea came to her while she was an undergraduate student at Atlanta’s Spelman College, to which Bill and Camille Cosby donated 20 million dollars for an educational complex that included a research center, laboratory and fine arts museum.
