In May 1999, the Minister of Fisheries and Oceans directed the Department to undertake a comprehensive review of Atlantic fisheries management policies.
The Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) is reviewing its policies to develop the direction, objectives and principles that will form a strong new foundation for managing the Atlantic fisheries.
The results of the Scientific Review Committee were presented at the recent Atlantic Salmon Advisory Committee meetings hosted by the Department of Fisheries and Oceans in Montreal in January, 2000.
