NON-DISCRIMINATION FOR STATE EMPLOYEES Today the Austin City Council voted to instruct its lobbyists to work for the passage of a bill that would prohibit the State of Texas from discriminating against its employees on the basis of sexual orientation.
State lawmakers have taken a skeptical look at Austin's plan to regulate hazardous pipelines, and the city is scrambling in private to answer their concerns before deciding the issue publicly.
Some other cities in the tech belt, notably Austin, Texas, have tried to fashion a political coalition to address these negative impacts and to get the politics-averse new economy engaged in constructive social change.
