To keep cattle away from water if they have a penchant to go there in hot weather and to keep nitrification down, inexpensive phreatophytes that cattle avoid that don't poison them or that are actual physical barriers could be planted next to the natural water source with the assistance of local groups thereby providing win-win for both groups.
There was a slough or a creek leading out of it on the other side that went miles away, I don't know where, but it didn't go to the river.
My problem is that I travel so much that I get into decent shape and then I go away for two weeks and don't do anything on the road.
