I was surprised to see that this is Kelly's first collection (save a brief four story book from Pulphouse): he is one of the best writers in the field, and in my opinion short fiction is his stronger suit.
It seems, Kelly's betrayal was all the more bitter to you because, according to the book, it came at just the same time that her friendship with you was reminding you of a dear friend who had died 20 years earlier.
