Golden Gate Bridge Named after that part of San Francisco Bay called "Golden Gate" by John Fremont in 1844, the bridge opened in 1937, connecting the city with Marin County.
The Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz Island, Sausalito, Angel Island and the famous San Francisco skyline.
We stayed with friends in San Rafael and used the ferry and the Golden Gate Bridge to get to San Francisco.

The ordinance bans personal watercraft along the shoreline of the Pacific Ocean from the Sonoma County line to the Golden Gate Bridge and the San Francisco Bay shoreline from the Golden Gate Bridge to the Marin/Sonoma County line at the Petaluma River.

Just north of San Francisco, on the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge in Sausalito , the best ice cream I am aware of in the Bay Area can be had at the Hawaiian Ice Cream shop across the street from the ferry pier.
