This was one goal of the failed Camp David negotiations, in which Israel proposed to withdraw from most of the West Bank, annexing some settlements near to its 1967 borders and swapping Israeli land for what was annexed.
In the end, the Camp David accords and peace treaty between Israel and Egypt vindicated Breira, just as the 1993 Israeli-Palestinian peace accords have vindicated Jewish peace activists who were similarly red-baited.
