These changes are about fairness and equality, and ensure that federal laws reflect the values of Canadians, values that are enshrined in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
Rejection of the firearms laws, coupled with increasing acceptence of tax evasion by many Canadians could seriously erode the consent to be governed which is the foundation of the democratic system.
This is a sobering fact, because it suggests that more than two out of three Canadians reject the Supreme Court’s determination that the life of a person with serious disabilities deserves the protection of the full force of the law.
