Canadians have already seen a steady erosion of their social security under the new rules of economic globalization and trade agreements like NAFTA and the WTO, as Canada's economy has merged into the American orbit and American rules.

Through such a process it should be possible at the outset of any new program to establish both the mechanisms to ensure that Canadians receive the appropriate level of service and the terms and conditions for any change in federal financing for any program approved in this manner.
As Canadians look to the new century, they expect the Public Service of Canada to continue to provide them with high quality services and assist them in the transition to a knowledge-based economy.
We are confident that the new rules will introduce greater clarity for Parliamentarians on the essential standards in public life and provide a transparent system by which Canadians may be assured that the public interest is well-protected.

It is a grim warning to media corporations and government that Canadians believe that the very integrity of the news that feeds our democracy is being undermined by the effects of concentrated media ownership.
This means agreeing on a new economic growth strategy for Atlantic Canada that will carry the judgment of a majority of Canadians, including federal PC MPs, most of whom represent Atlantic ridings.
