DVD's and CD's are more convenient that VHS video tapes because they take up less room and can be readily sent to friends and relatives in the mail.
Anyone who tapes a legally available CD or record and then tries to sell you a copy is violating the copyright on that recording and is knowingly depriving the artist of royalties.
Standard cassette tapes and audio CD are the only acceptable formats for recordings.
