Christ founded His Church on Pentecost in Acts, Chapter 2 when the Apostle Peter first preached the Gospel of Jesus and 3000 people were baptized.
The Church has also from early times baptized children who are not yet old enough to profess faith for themselves, on the grounds of the obvious faith of the parents and on the understanding that the child will receive a Christian upbringing within the family of Christ's church.
The true Church is composed of all persons who through saving faith in Jesus Christ and the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit are united together in the body of Christ.
