A Senate Committee has moved to block a loss of tax revenue to Mississippi cities and counties by barring BellSouth and other telecommunications companies from reducing property taxes paid each year.
In 41 of Mississippi counties, sale prices of existing homes in 1999 exceeded the maximum purchase price now allowed under the MRB program by an average of $20,000.
It is an intensive two-year leadership development program aimed at enhancing the skills of the next generation of young leaders in the 18 counties that comprise the Mississippi Delta Region.
