ADMINISTRATIVE HISTORY The Montgomery County Department of Police began in 1922 as a six-member force of police officers created by the Maryland General Assembly at the request of the County Commissioners.
The Sheriffs Office is equipped and prepared for emergency holding and works with the Montgomery County Detention Center to establish emergency evacuation and support plans in the event an incident should occur requiring emergency housing of inmates.
