HAMPTON COURT BRIDGE There has been a crossing of the Thames at Hampton Court, by ferry, for centuries but the first bridge was not built until 1750.
The belt was in poor repair at that point and apparently was sent to the Royal School of Needlework at Hampton Court Palace which specialises in the restoration of historic needlework.
It is set in the grounds of Hampton Court Palace, famous for its association with the British monarchy since the time of Henry VIII.
