Dance shoes are very lightweight shoes that have a suede bottom to allow the foot to rotate on the floor more smoothly.
The shoes had wooden soles and heels to amplify the rhythmic sounds of the dance.
Hard soled shoes should be worn for character dance and may be worn for tap classes if you do not have tap shoes.
