THOM YORKE and BJORK have dueted on a song to be included on the soundtrack of 'DANCER IN THE DARK' , the new Lars von Trier directed film in which the Icelandic star takes her first cinematic leading role.
I got to see an advanced viewing of the Lars Von Trier film Dancer in the Dark which was winner of the Palm d'Or and Best Female Performance, by Bjork, at the 2000 Cannes Film Festival.
Lars Van Trier, Danish Dogme director of Dancer in the Dark, had a difficult ( but rewarding ) time working with Bjork.

Watson was deservedly nominated for a Best Actress Oscar and, if the Academy has any sense and even one aesthetic bone in its collective body, Dancer in the Dark should garner many nominations - Best Actress, Song and Music for Bjork, Best Supporting Actress for Deneuve, and Best Director, Screenplay and Film for Von Trier.
The dancers and two immaculately dressed African opera stars combine Italian tragedy with African pulse, blowing away any operatic cobwebs one may still have lurking in some dark corner.
Dancer in the Dark is the latest film from Lars von Trier, whose minimalist methods and grim outlook have previously gone into the making of “Breaking the Waves,” another sad tale of a woman’s life gone lousy.
