Fish and Wildlife Service, and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (formerly the Florida Department of Environmental Protection) have funded much of the manatee research in the United States.
They recently had a meeting in Tallahassee, Florida with the representatives of Environmental Protection Agency and of Florida Department of Agriculture, Division of Aquaculture, and presented them with the plans for the farm.
The BTLDS system is maintained by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), Division of State Lands, Board of Trustees.
