Sony has also announced today a new portable slim DVD-R/RW drive which will connect to older VIAO notebook computers via a firewire connection at a suggested price of $600.
These fast machines were originally shipping with the new super DVD drives that can burn DVD-RW and CD-R disks, but Apple has had a supply problem.
The Dual RW DVD/CD recordable drives recently introduced by Sony Electronics will soon support up to 4X DVD+R recording with a simple firmware upgrade.

i bought a dvd ROM from patriot computers and they are not in business any more and i upgraded my computer from window 98se to window xp and can you e-mail the drivers and installation disk to install it on my computer the model is Sr-8582b. thank-you
