Somewhat reminiscent of Faust's collaged material, the floating sections of Guru Guru's masterful "Spaceship" (on the Hinten LP) or some of the Fred Frith/Chris Cutler (or any other free improvisers using electronics) live sessions I've heard but much more clinical and sinister than that might imply.

This was not Goethe's Faust, but the Faust of the ancient, traditional tale, not a drama summing up the entire philosophy of a great poet and a bit more, but rather a scream to heaven for redemption from the torment and fear of the worldly life, emerging directly from the deepest depth of the people's soul.
I would say that Jazz and Faust's movements are visually typical of many third-person games, except if you compare them to something like the third-person character gait in Morrowind —then both Jazz and Faust become poetry in motion by comparison.

Faust seduces Margarete, an innocent young girl who embodies for him the transcendent ideal that he seeks; she is condemned to death for killing their infant, but at the last moment, as Faust and Mephistopheles abandon her in prison, a voice from above declares that she is saved.
When Mephistopheles enters to urge haste, she is repelled by him and prays for deliverance, continuing to disregard Faust's appeals and finally recoiling from him as well.
Faust is so moved by Marguerite's chaste dwelling that he wants to leave, but Mephistopheles sweeps his scruples aside and leaves a casket of jewels on the step for Marguerite.

Fausts Versuch scheitert aber hier, zum Teil weil es das menschliche Los ist, die reinen Form nicht auf Erde erreichen zu k nnen -- auch aber weil Faust von Mephisto abgelenkt und in Versuchung gef hrt wird.
Als Claudia sich mit einem Freudenschrei auf ihn werfen und das gleiche tun wollte, hielt Fausts Faust sie v terlich zur ck: "Er braucht noch Ruhe!
Mephisto mu dauernd um Fausts Seele k mpfen, wobei alles im Faustbuch schon festgelegt ist, als der Pakt ganz am Anfang geschlossen wird.
