PS file can be output by printing device without original file, graphics/fonts used or even the application that created it.
The Postscript files are the result of OCR, are relatively modest in size (up to about 135KB) and should be suitable for viewing with a PS viewer or sending to a printer.
Download and print the PS test file for A4 or USLetter in order to check your printer.
