Long serving American indie band The Flaming Lips have released a string of critically acclaimed albums over the past 20 years or so but are perhaps destined to never find crossover commercial success, due largely to their uncompromising, unique and off-kilter take on lo-fi rock and roll.
The hard part is getting a label to release his stuff, which combines the sweeping orchestration of the Flaming Lips, whose Steven Drozd assisted in the album's production, with the DIY-aesthetic and detached spookiness of Chicago's homegrown indie rock.
He’s teamed with freaky alt-rockers the Flaming Lips to produce a lush, orchestral series of tracks he calls Songs for Dust Mites , and is shopping the material to independent labels.
