The Muskoka Heritage Trust is a federally incorporated charitable trust established by the Muskoka Heritage Foundation specifically for the purpose of preserving Muskoka's heritage assets, including significant natural lands and built heritage artifacts and architecture, by means of acquisition or conservation easements.
Grants and pledges from several trusts and foundations and many individual donors together with a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund were secured and the British Library committed funds from its own resources.

With support of the Drew family, the Muskoka Heritage Foundation initiated the Wayland Drew Natural Heritage Award to reward individuals who exemplify environmental leadership, by promoting stewardship, conservation, environmental education or awareness of Muskoka’s natural heritage.
This luncheon benefits the Heritage Association, the major donor to the River Foundation's endowment fund, which has turned out to be the key to defending this River now and in the future.
