When King Louis of France finally decided to send troops to America, Rochambeau was promoted to lieutenant-general and put in charge of the Frenchmen headed for the colonies.
He joined the BEF France on 2nd September 1915 but was back home on 28th October 1915 where he was subsequently discharged under Kings Regs.
Another reason was that King Louis XIV of France sent invading troops into the rich farmlands of the Rhine Palatine region, literally driving off the farmers.
