Make sure that you have aligned the threads of the two Ring Nut threaded halves with the threads on the Heater Reddy fitting before you secure them in place with the Ring Nuts one-piece retainer ring.
You will find the two cutting grooves located to the left and right of the center of the fitting, just inside the large male threaded portion of the Heater Reddy fitting.
