The institutes are the Mathematical Biosciences Institute at Ohio State University in Columbus; the Statistical and Applied Mathematical Science Institute in Research Triangle Park, NC; and the Research Conference Center of the American Institute of Mathematics in Palo Alto, CA.
The institutes involved in the programme are National Institute of Oceanography, National Chemical Laboratory, Physical Research Laboratory and Centre for Mathematical Modelling and Computer Simulation.
Consequently, imaging is used as a tool in all the institutes, but there is no home at the NIH for the basic research that is essential to develop new imaging techniques and technologies for the 21st century.
