DNS is a service that translates domain names into IP addresses in much the same way as someone might find your telephone number by first referencing your name in the listings.

My ISP telephone number and TCP/IP settings remained the same and all I had to do was go into the modem settings and change the modem script to the correct one which was the basic ZyXel iSDN 64k.
If you are using TCP/IP then your IP address is your access number on the remote system and if you are using modem to modem then your phone number is your access number.
IP numbers are Static, 56K modems are Dynamic address.
