1996 15hp Evinrude 4 stroke. Runs for about 3-4 minutes at about 1200rpm. Then dies as if running out of fuel. Have checked fuel supply. no apparent problems. Also checked fuel pump -seems OK. Fuel is fresh and clean. Makes no difference if I pump the bulb - still dies. Any suggestions other than stripping down carb? |

I have a 1971 50 horsepower johnson outboard motor that will not crank. It turns over and is getting gas but i have no fire.I have replaced both coil packs going to the spark plugs but still no fire. I removed the fly wheel thinking their was an armature underneath but their wasn't one.Only a sensor, which i had a local boat shop check out and the voltage checked out okay.Any ideas would help. By the way, I also replaced both spark plugs. |

I have a 1992 Johnson Tracker outboard that shuts down on a high speed plane. It runs great in all other conditions. It almost feels like total electrical loss, but restarts immediately and runs fine as long as I don't open back to full throttle and get on plane. My 71 18 HP Evinrude won't go full speed anymore. The engine revs, the water churns a little, but no forward thrust. The prop is not full of weeds, but it acts that way. I can't spin the prop by hand, so I assume the shear pin is ok. any ideas? |

I have a 1991 115hp evinrude TE115TLEI that runs great with new plugs and over 1200 rpms but seems to not idle or run at a troll after just minutes of use. The plugs don't look bad but if i change them it cleans up for a short while. I believe that i have a stuck ring on cyclinder 3 it only has 70 lbs of compression could that be all that is wrong? Could it be getting to much oil through the oil injector? |

We switched plug wires and plugs and the same cyl doesn't fire when the engine warms up
We even bought a new coil and the same deal.
We were told that the control module would kill both cylinders on one side.

My 1980 Johnson 70 HP outboard cranks very hard when cold. After finally starting, if I stop it and restart it cranks normally. I am guessing it is a compression release valve failure, but there is nothing about one in my manual. Is the a compression release valve on this outboard?
