On May 31, 1991, the Legislature designated the section of the Lower Saluda River starting one mile below the Lake Murray Dam to its confluence with the Broad River as a State Scenic River.
It is critical for people interested in maintaining Saluda River flows for kayaking, rafting, fishing, and water quality below the Lake Murray Dam get involved in the FERC relicensing process.
The conflict is over a plan by Carolina Water Service to send treated sewage into the Saluda below the Lake Murray dam.
