I graduated from college in 2001. I was repaying my college loan. I broke my ankle on both sides last year and in the same month found out my husband was terminally ill. I was out of work for 7 weeks. Needless to say, I defaulted on my college loan. My husband passed away last month. In order to get my loan out of default status, will Sallie Mae take over my loan? |

My husband and I have student loans through Sallie Mae. Neither of us is in the field that we graduated in and are unlikely to return to this field. We are unable to afford paying on these loans (which are now consolidated into ne loan). Is there any way we can have our student loan(s) cancelled, as we cannot afford to make payments any more? He is only making $6.45 an hour and I am unemployed and having health problems and will probably not be able to find a job that pays any amount that would make it feasible for us to pay on them. |

has anyone else noticed that Sallie Mae is NOT releasing loans for reconsolidation at lower than 9% interest rates, applying entire payments to INTEREST ONLY after LONG periods of time (10 years); has moved their customer service to Bangladesh or some similar place.... just wondering???? |
