i have been given a snappper mower model #3081s 11 horse briggs rear engine. after getting the engine going the mower will not move, eith forward or backward. i noticed that the drive wheel is not touching the pancake pulley (thats what i call for lack of proper terminology)i replaced the wheel thinking that was the problem. i have adjusted everything i can see to make it touch and drive the mower, but alas no success. can you give some suggestions to things i can adjust or replace to make the mower move? |

Good morning. I hope your day is going well.
I am the third owner of a Snapper rear engine 12 hp, 5 speed, Hi Vac 33, disc drive mower which works well. Hhowever, it cuts my lawn too low despite it being placed on the highest level possible. I have inflated the tires to no avail. I was told by a Snapper dealer that "Snappers are notorious for cutting too low and there is nothing you can do about it". Needless to say this was very disappointing to hear. Before I purchase another mower (which would not be a Snapper if it does not cut high enough for my tall fescue lawn), is there anything you suggest I do to increase the cutting blade height? For example, are there bigger tires available to purchase to raise the cutting height? I would appreciate any advice you have for me to address this matter.
Thank you very much.
Have a great day.

On the snapper pancake wheel as you call it there are two set screws located on the shaft directly above that wheel. Move shift lever to park or roll position loosen set screws move pancake away from drive wheel until it just clears. Tighten set screws. Move shift lever to first or position 1 and see if pancake comes into contact with drive wheel. It should make contact in all positions except roll or neutral. With this done your snapper should move right on out and cut the grass. Hope this has helped you! |

I have a snapper riding mower with a honda 11hp engine. the engine starts great but when I release the brake the mower starts to choke out, but if I push the brake all the way down the mower runs just fine. Also, when I engage the mower blade the engine will smooth out and run just fine. Could this be a bad brake switch. |

I have s snapper rider that is fairly old. Rear engine, model # 3312512be. I can see a stripped gear at the R rear wheel so I am assuming that is my problem -- the mower won't move forward/reverse at all. Repair shop wants $500 to fix it, so I'd like to try to replace the part myself. I'm having problems removing the rear axle and haven't been able to find any useful info online, so I'm hoping you can help me. I've looked in the parts manual but until I can get the dang thing off, I'm not sure which part I'll need. Any pointers on removing the rear axle are greatly appreciated. Thanks. If your cutting deck is not engaging, it is probably one of 3 problems. 1. Your belt is off the pulley. 2. The spring attached to your lever that actually engages the blade is broken. OR 3. Your belt is too long for the distance btw the two pulleys. To solve this problem, a minor adjustment can be made in the length of the entire frame of the mower. Under the seat is the central shaft that attaches the front of the mower to the rear of the mower. This can be adjusted by loosening the two nuts/bolts that hold it tight, then just pull on the front of the mower until the desired length is achieved, tighten back up and go. |

I have a Snapper 28086s 28" with a 8hp Briggs, and I just love it. I recently had the power quit to the tires, so I am going to replace the smooth clutch disk. I can do that repair myself, but anything past that I will be lost.
My question is this---I took the wheels off and the disk off. I turn each end of the wheel mounts and the other wheel mount does not move. Do you think I have a broken internal chain or are these wheels not designed to turn together? I can replace the disk, but I am scared to see if chain is broken and take it any further apart. Should both wheels be turning or should I tear into to it. Thanks for any help you can offer. |
