Hi. I've been bidding on eBay for about a year now, and about two months ago, I realized that I could have funds directly drawn out of my bank account as another option for auction payments through Pay Pal. So, one day I began filling out the online application for using this method of payment. Midway through the process, I thought better of it. (I don't recall precisely what made me apprehensive about it, but something on the application made me question the safety of using my own personal account as a source of payment.) Anyway, midway through filling out the application, I decided to cancel the action because I wasn't convinced it was a wise choice. I thought that was the end of that, but not so. Suddenly, Pay Pal baraged me with a multitude of e-mail notices in which they highly encouraged me to get my account "verified." One of the e-mails went so far as to tell me that they had my account information, and if I would just become verified, I'd be viewed as a much more palitable buyer. Well this upset me no end, especially because I never officially submitted my banking information to them. I merely had begun filling the form out, but cancelled the action midway through. So, I wrote a none too nice letter to Pay Pal about this situation, and told them under no circumstances were they to ever use my banking information, that I had at no time authorized them to do so, etc. Well, I never received any acknowledgement that they'd ever received my e-mail. In fact, I never heard a word from them. I also hadn't bought another thing on eBay since that time until this past week. All was fine until yesterday, after I purchased an auction item that I'd won. My account with Pay Pal was set up in such a way that only my Discover Card credit card was to be used as a method of payment - and that's what Pay Pal had been using -until yesterday when they sent me a notice telling me that they had just authorized an auction payment to be paid directly from my banking account. I wrote them and told them to cancel my banking account as a source of payment under Pay Pal, that I had NEVER authorized my bank account as a source of payment, and that I never wanted my bank account to be used as a source of payment again, unless they were otherwise notified by me. I asked them to send me an e-mail that reflected that they understood my request and would be honoring it from here on out. As usual, I haven't heard a word. I just got home and checked on the status of an auction item that I'd been bidding on. I discovered I'd won, so I went to pay for it, and guess what? They're STILL using my bank account as the main source of payment! Since they won't even acknowledge that I've written to them about this, what other course of action do I have to take, beyond cancelling my service with them altogether? Thanks for "listening," and please help. I'm scared to death my banking account is going to be overdrawn due to their persistence in ignoring me. Barbara W.
