PIC Programming tools: Bonny Gijzen has developed a Windows programmer that can program an enormous variety of devices, and supports a wide range of programming hardware, including the 'JDM' device that I built.

Commercial programmers specially aimed at the pay-TV hacking audience are getting more sophisticated (which is just as well as many hackers have difficulty putting together simple PIC programmers it seems)

Professional programmers will recognize that the content of this meta tag - the PICS label itself - can be delivered using other methods.

The PIC-Flash II is a proper parallel port based programmer with a variable voltage supply to validate the non-16F84 serial programmable chips.
The programmer will only program the PIC wafer cards and not the chips as it does not have any sockets to program the microchips, but has a card slot to program the wafer cards.
Newfound show how a low-cost single PIC interface can permit simple DIY parallel port programmers to be used directly from MPLAB.
