SEARCH & SEIZURE PROTECTIONS The Fourth Amendment of the Constitution protects an individual against unreasonable searches and seizure of his or her person or property.
It extended the federal protections of the Bill of Rights to citizens under state law, who previously had to look to each state constitution for such rights.
